MANAGED CARE ETHICS - Text: Ethics Issues for Behavioral Health Care Practitioners and
 Organizations in a Managed Care Environment by John Petrila, J.D., LL.M. 
 
DESCRIPTION: This ethics course provides an examination of the ethical dilemmas and
 responsibilities facing behavioral healthcare professionals. Ethics principles are explained in
 straightforward language and illustrated with practical scenarios consistent with today's managed
 care environment. 
 
OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to; 
1) identify the ethical issues faced by U.S. healthcare today, 
2) list the fiduciary responsibilities a therapist has to client(s),
3) apply ethical principles to questions of reimbursement and care delivery, and
4) make informed decisions about the ethics of specific managed care contracts and programs in
    which the healthcare professional may be involved.
