Description: This course presents the research based Individual Drug Counseling (IDC) model of treatment developed at the University of Pennsylvania and the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. Twelve-step philosophy and participation is a central component of this model. The course includes logistics, assessment, role of the counselor, treatment initiation, problem solving, counselor training and characteristics and supervision.
Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to:
